A little help, whenever you need it
NekoTrack support.
Pick a box. Name who's inside. Go for a run. They grow when you do.
NekoTrack is a small painted orange cat, Mochi by default, who lives on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Every run you save to Apple Health adds to Mochi's total distance, and at each milestone Mochi grows up: The Bean, The Rascal (20 km), The Zoomer (75 km), The Rocket (200 km) and The Brain Cell (500 km).
There's nothing to log. Run with the Workout app on Apple Watch or any running app that saves workouts to Health. NekoTrack is free, with no account, no ads and no tracking.
Questions
How do I give NekoTrack access to Health?
NekoTrack asks once during setup (Allow in Health). If you tapped Not now, or want to check:
- On Home, tap Open Health settings on the card that says your cat can't see your runs yet.
- Or open the Health app, tap your picture, then Apps › NekoTrack.
- Or go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › NekoTrack.
Turn on Workouts and Walking + Running Distance. NekoTrack only reads them. It never writes to Health.
Why isn't my cat growing?
- Mochi may be waiting for you. Growing up never happens behind your back. When you reach a milestone, a "ready to grow up" pill appears on Home. Tap it to watch.
- Check Health access for Workouts and Walking + Running Distance (see above).
- It has to be a running workout. Walks and other workout types don't count. Your running app must save the run to Apple Health.
- Runs under 1 km don't count unless you turn on Settings › Count runs under 1 km.
- Only runs after you brought your cat home count, unless you turn on Settings › Include past runs.
- Growing takes total distance: 20 km to The Rascal, 75 km to The Zoomer, 200 km to The Rocket, 500 km to The Brain Cell. Home shows how far is left.
- Give it a minute. Some apps save to Health a little after you finish. Pull down on Home to refresh.
How do I set up the Apple Watch app?
- Set up your cat on your iPhone first. The watch app has no setup of its own.
- If the watch app didn't install by itself, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to NekoTrack and tap Install.
- Make sure your iPhone and watch use the same Apple Account with iCloud on. Your cat reaches the watch through your private iCloud, which can take a few minutes.
- Open NekoTrack on the watch and allow Health access when asked, so the watch can count your runs too.
Complications: touch and hold your watch face, tap Edit, then pick NekoTrack for a complication slot. Smart Stack: turn the Digital Crown and add the NekoTrack "After a run" widget.
iPhone widgets: touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit or Customize, and add NekoTrack.
How does iCloud sync work?
Your cat's name, breed, the day they came home, the last stage you watched them grow into, and your settings are stored in your private iCloud. That's how the same cat shows up on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and comes back after a reinstall or on a new iPhone (tap Restore from iCloud on the welcome screen).
Your runs are not synced by NekoTrack. Each device reads them from Apple Health, which Apple keeps in sync on its own.
You can see the sync status in Settings › iCloud. If you're not signed in to iCloud, everything still works, just on that one device.
How do I start over?
On Home, tap the gear, then Start over with a new cat, and confirm twice. Your cat and their progress are removed from your iPhone, your Apple Watch and iCloud. Your runs in Health are not affected. Then pick a box and bring a new cat home.
To remove everything, including the app, see how to delete your data.
Does NekoTrack record my runs?
No. NekoTrack isn't a workout tracker. Keep using whatever you run with now, as long as it saves running workouts to Apple Health. Mochi will notice.
